Q & A

Will resistance training make me bulk up?

Have you been resisting lifting weights thinking it will make you bulk up instead of trim down?
I can honestly tell you that when I implemented resistance training into my routine, I noticed significant results. I will tell you however, that sometimes you may experience a transitional period, lasting a week or two. Stick with my program during this time, and DON’T QUIT. Your body is changing for the better. That muscle you’re putting on is like a furnace. It will help you burn off that unwanted fat.

Why isn’t the scale budging?

Here is the skinny on using resistance training to tone up: A pound of muscle and a pound of fat weigh the same. The difference is muscle is denser, like a brick, and takes up less space. Fat on the other hand, is like cotton candy and takes up a lot of room. By gaining muscle, you’re lowering your body fat.

What is body fat?

Body fat is your body’s percentage of fat. When you increase your muscle mass you raise your metabolism and hence burn fat lowering that percentage. That is because a pound of muscle at rest burns 35-40 calories a day. A pound of fat only burns 3-5 calories a day at rest. Let me help you do the math. What would you rather have, more muscle or more fat?

Should I opt for fat free foods?

Fat free does not always mean calorie free. In fact, many fat free foods are loaded with refined sugars and preservatives. Avoiding fats altogether can lead to unwanted cravings and overeating. My plan teaches you to eat a balanced diet with foods mostly in their natural state.

Should I avoid carbohydrates?

Carbohydrates are an essential source of energy and are important to maintain proper metabolic function. My plan not only shows you which carbs to eat, but when to eat them. I will teach you how to balance protein and carbohydrate intake.
